Autumn: First half-term

The children have made a wonderful start to the new school year in Reception. We have all enjoyed exploring our new classrooms and playing alongside each other. The children are growing in confidence each day as they become more independent in accessing the activities and resources in the classroom and using our imaginations to create art, build models and make up role play games.

This term we will be starting our weekly P.E sessions on a Monday morning and Forest School sessions on a Friday afternoon which is very exciting. Don’t worry about providing any kit just yet, the children won’t start getting themselves changed until after October half term.

In phonics we are working on our phase one skills which are all about tuning into the sounds around us, oral blending and segmenting and alliteration. Please look out for a post on‘Seesaw’ for ideas on how to support your child with their phase one skills as these are fundamental in order to learn to read.

In R.E our topic is ‘myself’ and so we will be discussing our families, our names and how we are all special to God.

It has been great getting to know all of the children over the last couple of weeks and we are very excited for the year ahead!
