Holy Cross School is now consulting on changes to its admission arrangements which will take effect for the academic year 2020-21. The consultation will run from Monday 3rd December until Monday 14th January, 2019.

For each year group, the  English curriculum is built around high quality, whole class texts which the class spend up to a term exploring and enjoying. The texts are carefully chosen so that they are engaging and challenging, linked to topics where possible.

Every single pupil will have a copy of the book being studied, so that they can better experience reading and engaging with high quality literature, sharing the teacher's passion for reading. The children read the whole text, in both individual and shared reading, which means that everyone can enjoy the reading experience.

All areas of the English curriculum are embedded in to each unit of work, including speaking and listening, reading comprehension, grammar, punctuation and technical writing skills. Children will get the opportunity to write in a range of forms and for a variety of audiences and purposes. Children may also complete 'cold' and 'hot' tasks at the beginning and end of units to show their progress.
